  7. Process Description Of S/F Spinning And Drawing
    1. The melt polymer which is produced by the polymerization process is fed to the spinning beam directly under the constant pressure through a jacket heated pipe by booster pump.
    2. The melt distribution system is designed for short and equal residence time to maintain uniform quality and pressure.
    3. The entire spinning beam with polymer transfer pipe and distribution tubes are dowtherm vapor heated to maintain correct product temperature.
    4. Integrated in the spinning beam are spin blocks to which replaceable melt spin pumps and spin packs are fitted.
    5. Each pump stream meters the melt flow to one spinneret and accurately controls the resulting filament denier.
    6. A spin pack is composed of distributor plate, filter screen glass beads and spinnerets.
    7. The screen pack serves as a filter for foreign matters and pressure drop gives the necessary shearing action.
    8. Special seals in the spin pack assure a leakage-free operation. Spin packs can be changed by interrupting the melt flow by means of stopping spin pump driveshaft.
    9. Just under the spinning beam quench chambers are installed.
    10. Here, in a cross current of conditioned cool air, the melt is solidified and the filaments are cooled to ambient temperatures, then pass over finish application rolls, godet rolls, and onto the capstan roll assembly, subsequently fed into the tow can.
    11. The tow passes through a tow lay down device which deposits the tow in a can.
    12. The filled tow cans are transferred by feed conveyor to creel area to await further tow automatic processing.
    13. Tow cans are placed in a can creel ahead of the drawing machine.
    14. The drawing machine consists of feed and draw rolls. The drawing machine is enclosed so that the liquid is contained within the machine.
    15. The draw tow is passed through after finish oiling tow assembler and fed into crimper.
    16. Tow is discharged from the crimper, and the tow is distributed in a uniform pattern across the tow drying setter.
    17. From the cutter, the staple fiber is discharged to a baler.
    18. The bale is strapped and then measured by scale.
