Description
-
Overview
- Easily configured and modified to accommodate a range of fabrics, films and foams to suit individual customer requirements.
- A configuration is also available which can give flexible to rigid or rigid to rigid lamination.
- Incorporates a new 3-roll hot melt application head with integral unwinds, rewind and laminating nip.
- Can be designed for lamination of fabric to fabric, fabric to foam, fabric to film, and many other substrate combinations.
-
Operating Conditions
- Roll face width: gravure roll up to 2600 mm, other rolls up to 2400 mm.
- Maximum mechanical speed: 40 m/min.
- Approximate coat weights: a range of coat weights can be achieved, dependent upon the nature of the engraving on the roller; to cover a wide range of coat weights it may be necessary to have two or more rollers; the roller most widely used at the present time has been specially developed by us, achieves 4-22 g/m² (this quotation includes for the supply of one engraved roller only; further rollers engraved to the appropriate characteristics can be supplied at extra cost; computer point and uniform point rollers are supplied upon request and subject to extra cost).
- Production speed: 0-40 m/min, dependent on materials being laminated, coat weights required, viscosity of adhesive and type.
- Materials: fabrics (woven, knitted), PU and other foams, lycras, films, foils and paper.
- Operation: non continuous (continuous on request).
- Drive system: fully synchronised AC inverter system.
- Standards: the machine will be built in full conformity to current EU standards and regulations.
-
Service Requirements
- Ambient conditions: 5 - 40 °C.
- Electrics: 230 V / 400 V / 50 Hz (or as advised).
- Control voltage: 110 V / single phase (or as local regulations).
- Compressed air: 6 bar minimum.
- Cooling water: to client's requirements.
- Machine colour: RAL 9010 white.
-
Machine Specification
- The equipment will comprise the following elements.
-
Adhesive Coating and Laminating Unit
- Oil filled and electrically heated engraved applicator roller: precision machined and designed to be changed quickly and easily if required; the coat weight given by any particular engraving will depend upon the adhesive system being employed, the temperature of the adhesive and the associated doctor blade and applicator roller, the nature and type of materials to be laminated, the engraving applied to the roller, and the machine settings; with the roller most widely used we can vary the coat weight from 4 to 22 g/m²; other coarser engravings would achieve higher coat weights; the application roller is synchronised with the back-up roller and driven using AC motor and inverter; it is gap adjustable to the back-up roller to facilitate different thicknesses of fabric and foam; digital dial gauges display the actual roller gap set.
- An electrically heated doctor blade assembly is provided, which forms a trough to create a bank of adhesive; the doctor blade assembly is pneumatically operated and is teflon coated; both doctor blade and roller temperatures are accurately controlled and adjusted by means of a PID temperature controller.
- A silicone covered back-up roller is supplied in a fixed position; this roller is synchronised with the application roller and driven using an AC inverter drive system.
- A nip roller is supplied above the back-up roller; this roller is constructed in a similar manner to the back-up roller; it is however gap adjustable and actuated using pneumatics, precision slides and AC drives connected to ball screws; digital dial gauges measure the gap that has been set; the application roller is actuated in the same manner.
- A lap roller, aluminium and hard anodised, is supplied: adjustable in position to allow different web paths through the application nip.
- A stainless steel drip tray is supplied and fitted underneath the application group; it is teflon coated.
- All controls are conveniently located within the machine framework; an interface is supplied in the form of a Siemens touch-screen which enables all machine parameters to be displayed, recorded and recalled; main control logic is via a Siemens PLC.
- All nips have a pneumatic nip guard which when activated, will blow the roller apart 125 mm, and stop all the drives.
-
Drum Melter
- Included in this specification is a 200 litre Nordson hot melt drum melter with the necessary trace heated hose and injector; this unit comes complete with adhesive level sensor.
-
Electrics
- All necessary electrical ancillary equipment is housed within a separate electrical cabinet but which forms part of the main machine.
-
Included Additional Items
- The unwind stations are supplied complete with air bars and self-closing side shoulders; these self-closing side shoulders in both positions (primary and secondary) have integral pneumatic brake units for tension unwind control; they also have the facility to be manually guided for fabric alignment and could be later retro-fitted with motor control and edge guidance system (at extra cost) when and if required; the primary unwind forms part of the assembly described in (c).
- Included are two driven cord expanders to maintain crease free operation for all substrates but in particular for films; one for the primary substrate and one for the secondary substrate.
