  4. Condition and Classification

  5. Layout Description
    1. A sub frame structure was constructed 1 meter above the main deck in the machinery section of the barge.
    2. The generator sets were installed on elevated beds above the sub frame structure.
    3. The generator sets were aligned side by side in two rows.
    4. In the machinery section is the control room which houses electrical and the distribution equipment.
    5. Above the control room is the cooling systems, silencers, and exhaust stack, fuel heating system, air conditioning equipment and auxiliary equipment.
    6. Forward of the machinery section is a deck house that houses a break room, management office, administration office, support offices and containers that are used for storing spares.
    7. On the forecastle deck there is a windless and mooring bollards.
    8. Above the forecastle deck is a machinery deck with cooling equipment, exhaust stacks, waste heat system and other auxiliary equipment.
  6. Cooling System
    1. Each engine is equipped with an independent water jacket and lube oil circulation system, which is controlled by Siemens electric temperature control valves and cooled by seawater cooling with plate heat exchangers.
    2. The charging air system via the air side of the turbocharges are cooled by seawater cooling with plate heat exchangers.
    3. For heavy fuel operations the fuel injectors are cooled by a nozzle cooling water system.
  7. Lube Oil System
    1. Each main engine lubricating oil system consists of 2 inline filters, a Boll & Kirch 30 micron automatic filter with 15 micron scavenging system and a Mann 40 micron magnetic pocket element filter.
    2. The engine and turbocharges are also equipped with individual gravity run down tanks for fast shutdown and maintaining lubrication without operation of the pumps.
    3. Four Alfa Laval electronically controlled separators continuously clean the lube oil.
  8. Fuel System
    1. Fuel skids are undergoing continuous upgrades and one engine is equipped with an Alfa Laval fuel viscosity meter utilizing steam as a heating medium.
    2. There is a pneumatic 3 way valve for quick change over from diesel to heavy fuel oil and back.
    3. Fuel heaters are Alfa ITT steam plate heaters.
    4. Fuel skids are of closed loop design circulating unused fuel back to the skid.
    5. Three electronically controlled Alfa Laval heavy fuel oil separators perform the fuel cleaning.
  9. Starting and Control System
    1. Starting air is 435 psi and instrument and control air is 125 psi provided by skid mounted compressor system.
  10. Auxiliary Equipment
    1. One Spectrum 400 DSE driven by Detroit Diesel 8V71 engine at 1800 rpm, 60 Hz.
    2. One 168 kW Deutz 10 cylinder F10143F driving both a 80 kW Delco AC generator and a 75 kW KSM DC generator.
    3. The diesel generator sets used for plant services and cold start up.
  11. Waste Heat and Boiler
    1. Waste heat from high temperature exhaust gases (400 degrees C) on the discharge side of the main engine turbochargers is utilized to heat water in waste heat boilers in the exhaust system.
    2. The steam and hot water is used to heat the heavy fuel oil in the oil tanks below deck.
  12. Fresh Water System
    1. One Alfa Laval fresh water generator with 3.2 gpm capacity, driven by a jacket water system at 60 to 85 degrees C with a vacuum flash type steam.
