This unit can make products suitable for many applications, including special technical laminates for numerous market segments.
Catalytic Combustion Unit
Three catalytic combustion units including two Haldor Topsøe units (one of which has new catalyst since 2012) and one Perstorp Regenox unit comprise the catalytic combustion system.
These catalytic combustion units also take care of the off-gases from Pergo impregnation lines.
The catalytic combustion unit consists of three parallel lines. Their joint capacity is, when operated at the premises, until now approx. 35,000 Nm³/h.
Lines 1 and 2 are delivered by Haldor-Topsøe A/S and were taken into operation in 1986. Line 3 was built by the Perstorp Group (the Formox division) and was taken into operation in 1997.
Every line contains the following components: gas ventilator, heat exchanger, electric heater and catalyst bed. Lines 1 and 2 also have steam boilers for heat recovery.
The gas ventilators in line 1 and 2 were replaced in the nineties. In 2001, the heat exchanger in line 3 was replaced with a tubular heat exchanger. The catalyst mass in line 1 was replaced in 2012.
The gas is heated on entry to the chosen entry temperature by heat exchange with the exiting purified gas. At start-up, electric heaters are used for heating the entry gas.
The heated gas is guided into the catalyst bed. The catalyst bed enables a high level of oxidation of the solvent gases to carbon dioxide and water at a temperature of 260-450 °C.
The emission points are three smokestacks. The smokestack for line 3 is currently dismantled and is located close to the catalytic combustion unit.
The catalytic combustion unit has a purification effect, when operated at the premises, until now of above 98% on average.
In addition, the catalytic combustion unit contains a piece of fixed equipment for measuring VOC from the catalytic combustion unit as well as approx. 4 binders of I.A operating instructions for the catalytic combustion unit.
