Polypropylene and PET Plants, Zimmer and Barmag Technology, 180,000 TPA Novolen Gas Phase, 80,000 TPA Amoco Process, 60,000 TPA Mitsui Technology

  1. Polypropylene Plants
    1. Plant 1: 180,000 ton/yr polypropylene plant, Novolen gas phase technology, dual reactor trains with 50 and 25 m3 reactors producing homopolymer grades. Plant built in 1979 and expanded in 1989.
    2. Plant 2: Complete 80,000 ton/yr polypropylene plant, Amoco process using C6 solvent, without catalyst washing. Three (3) reactor trains of 120 m3 each. Products are homopolymer, copolymer random and impact. Plant has achieved throughputs of 115 ton/yr.
    3. Plant 3: 60,000 ton/yr polypropylene plant, Mitsui technology, producing 95% pp and 5% atactic polymers. Built mid 1980’s. Autoclave polymerization in 4 polymerizers, 88 m3 and 3 at 50 m3. Plant consists of 9 technological sections: catalyst preparation, polymerization, disabling – centrifugal section, drying, granulation, methanol recovery, hexane recovery, utilities, packaging.
    4. Plant 4: 110,000 tpa slurry copolymer polypropylene plant, Mitsubishi technology, using a second generation Ziegler-Natta catalyst and heptane as solvent.
    5. Plant 5: 120,000 tpa slurry copolymer polypropylene plant, Mitsubishi technology.
  2. Pet Plants
    1. Unused dual feed continuous polycondensation line having capability to run either on PTA or on DMT and MEG. Plant is capable of operating with PTA at a capacity of 105,000 tpa or on DMT at a capacity of 91,000 tpa.
    2. Direct melt spinning to produce polyester POY at a capacity of 16,800 tpa on 125 denier basis or 28,000 tpa on denier mix basis.
    3. Direct melt spinning to produce polyester staple fiber (100% capacity to produce high modulus and high tenacity cotton type fiber at a capacity of 35,000 tpa).
    4. Polyester chips for textile grade at 42,000 tpa (PTA route) or 28,000 tpa (DMT route). Maximum chip production is 67,200 tpa.
    5. Zimmer and Barmag technology.
  3. Other Pet Plants
    1. Unused 35 tpd PET plant: (1) 35 tpd polyester continuous poly condensation plant “Karl Fischer” technology, consisting of: paste mixing equipment, esterification equipment, poly condensation equipment, catalyst additive systems, delustering preparation equipment, TPA and EG tankage, dowtherm boiler and recovery vessels.
  4. Plasticizer Plant
    1. As equipped works or for relocation. Benzoflex plasticizer – used as non-phthalate PVC plasticize; 37,500 tons/yr; raw materials – benzoic acid, glycol, soda ash, hydrogen peroxide, catalyst. Commissioned in 1989; complete manufacturing facility.
    2. Major process equipment: (2) 14,500 gallon, 316L stainless steel reactors, 100 psi and FV internal, 200 psi jackets. Jackets are Inconnel.
    3. 16 mm BTU dowtherm vaporizer.
    4. Condensers, heaters, columns, filters.
    5. Tank farm and utilities.
    6. Documentation includes mechanical, electrical, civil, structural and foundation drawings. Suitable for fiber or bottle grade PET.
  5. 6000 Tpy Pet Plant
    1. (1) 6000 ton/yr PET, polyester chip plant for film grade products, convertible to bottle grade with raw material of PTA.
    2. Major process equipment: 10 m3 stainless steel melt phase reactor.
    3. 10 m3 stainless steel polycondensation melt vessel.
    4. (2) polymer reactors, stainless steel.
    5. 1.25 m x 20 m belt flaker.
    6. (2) 4th micropulverizers, screw feed, stainless steel.
