Stanley Hartco border wire clipping system, inventory number E-2713.
System includes the V.R.C. machine, rotating worktable, and coil clip tool.
Designed to attach border wires to perimeter coils of innerspring units using Stanley Hartco clips, eliminating helical border sewing.
Process: operator places innerspring on rotating worktable, positions two border wires, attaches them with coil clip tool, then places pre-clipped unit on V.R.C. machine for automatic finish clipping.
Average processing times for Bonnell type 312 coil innerspring units using 8 clips per corner (32 clips per unit): twin pre-clipping 45 seconds, finish clipping 75 seconds; full pre-clipping 45 seconds, finish clipping 85 seconds; queen pre-clipping 45 seconds, finish clipping 100 seconds; king pre-clipping 45 seconds, finish clipping 110 seconds.
Production Benefits
Increased production: an employee with a V.R.C. work cell consistently outproduces a border sewer.
Consistent production: machine paced production is consistent day to day.
Plant floor: clipping units immediately after transfer eliminates stacking, opens up plant floor, and reduces clutter.
Personnel Benefits
Learning curve: no more than one week required, compared to six months for helical sewing.
Lower insurance costs: reduced injuries and occurrences of carpal tunnel.
Pride: less employee turnover.
Quality Benefits
Greater consistency from unit to unit: machine clipped units are more consistent than hand sewn.
Improved unit quality: V.R.C. acts as a quality check point.
Out of spec units: clipping units directly after transfer shows immediately when quality gets out of hand, not after half a day's production.
V.R.C. Machine Features
Produces twin to king size units without making any adjustments.
Proven clinching tool technology: Hartco clinching tools provide years of reliable service.
Warranty: Hartco fully warrants every V.R.C. machine.
Solid state industrial components: readily available industrial components are used.
Low maintenance: anvils and blades are the only parts that need to be replaced on a regular basis; blades can be re-sharpened to further reduce operating costs.
