Ruston, Typhoon, 1994, 4 MW, 11 kV, 50 Hz, Gas Turbine Power Plant

Description

  1. Overview
    1. Complete distillate fired EGT Typhoon gas turbine set rated at 4 MW capacity.
    2. Excludes the power plant building structure and step-up transformer.
    3. Immediately available in running condition.
    4. Plant is redundant, presenting an opportunity for a potential buyer.
  2. History
    1. Unit last subject to borescope inspections in December 1999 and June 2000; the latter witnessed by Power Consultant International as part of an ongoing performance monitoring program.
    2. Engine failed in January 1999 and was replaced free of charge as a warranty claim.
    3. Cause of earlier failure was blade fatigue.
    4. After replacement, engine underwent ongoing performance monitoring including replacement of some blades as part of a sampling program.
    5. Inspection in December 1999 after 1600 hours of operation and in June 2000 after 4000 hours both reported the engine in good condition.
    6. Running since mid-2000 has been very little as a new station came on stream.
    7. Owner quotes 11215 hours on the new core, but this appears overstated based on 4000 hours as of June 2000.
    8. Unit is periodically turned each month on the turning ratchet with the lubricating system on.
    9. Last test run was in January 2002.
    10. Current core is well within its 40000 hours schedule.
