  2. Machine Specifications
    1. The machine is designed to manufacture a three ply laminate in a single pass.
    2. The individual webs are laminated together by means of melting the foam surface to a depth of.025" -.030" and using the resulting hot viscous adhesive as a bonding agent.
    3. Quotation is subject to reviewing material samples.
    4. Laminating speeds are material dependant.
  3. Construction
    1. Machine frame is fabricated of tubular steel and is rigidly braced with heavy-duty torque members, assuring vibration-free operation.
    2. Sealed-for-life ball bearings are used throughout.
    3. Dead-shaft idler rollers are statically or dynamically balanced at operating speed to insure smooth turning.
    4. Roll coverings are selected based on product requirements.
    5. Adequate guarding with conveniently located access doors or openings provided for servicing of drive train, motors and all transmission elements.
    6. The machine is shipped prewired and prepiped for ease of installation.
  4. Laminator
    1. The machine is designed to laminate three materials; a foam and two substrates; by melting the surface of the foam and using it as a bonding agent.
    2. Unit is a three-(3) roll type using two 72" gas fired ribbon burners.
    3. The burners will have an adjustability of.25" to 3.00".
    4. A pneumatically operated burner bracket with flow control valves and automatic 90 degree burner rotation during start/stop operations are provided for each burner position.
    5. Burner rotation and burner position relative to the roll face are controlled using separate elements.
    6. A gas premixer is utilized for variable flame adjustment with all the necessary gas safety equipment.
    7. A slat expander is used at the face product entry point to reduce product wrinkle.
    8. Lamination rolls are constructed of 9 3/8” od x 76" face dom tubing with dual headers.
    9. Chrome plating is added to each roll to ensure good product face quality and ease of cleaning.
    10. Water rotary unions are used to allow constant water flow for heat dissipation (usage 1000 meters per hour).
    11. Roll nip positioning is pneumatically initiated.
  5. Flame Safety Primary
    1. A flame control system will provide the following safety features in conjunction with the use of a flame detector mounted to the burner at each station.
    2. Upon start-up the system will purge all lines and burners after the mixer valve.
    3. After purge, the gas valve is energized the gas ignition cycle starts using a selected preset time.
    4. Flame shut down will commence if the presence of the flame is not proven within time limits; recycle (field selectable) will take place at this time and the sequence starts over.
  6. Unwind Section
    1. Foam Let-Off Frame
      1. The let off will be a free standing frame.
      2. Foam let-off is a shaft type using mechanical core chucks which are placed in ball bearing holders.
      3. A manually operated shaft brake maintains minimal tension to prevent the roll from free wheeling.
      4. A short infeed frame is included to hold the foam roll back a short distance from the flame head.
      5. An idler roller conveyor will carry the foam to the entry point above the hood.
    2. Fabric Let-Off (Top Fabric)
      1. A shafted center type unwind using a lug type airshaft mounted in self closing safety chucks.
      2. A rack and pinion slide is manually operated to control edge guide.
      3. An operator initiated pneumatic brake is included for tension control.
    3. Backing Let-Off (Bottom Fabric)
      1. A shafted center type unwind using a lug type airshaft mounted in self closing safety chucks.
      2. A rack and pinion slide is manually operated to control edge guide.
      3. An operator initiated pneumatic brake is included for tension control.
  7. Rewind
    1. This station is a combination surface driven wind-up.
    2. The surface wind-up is a dual drum type using mechanical core chucks on a round shaft.
    3. Appropriate roll coverings are based on the finished product.
  8. Platform
    1. The platform is 4' x 8' square elevated to allow the finished laminated web.
    2. The frame is made of 3" x 3" angle and the deck is covered with 1/8" diamond plate.
  9. Operator Controls
    1. Start
    2. Stop (normal)
    3. Stop (emergency)
    4. Speed readouts
    5. Automatic / manual mixer control
    6. Automatic / manual burner in / out operation
  10. Overhead Effluent Collection Hood
    1. A close fitting collection hood with 5000-cfm tube blower will be mounted above the laminating station.
    2. The hood is designed to envelop the laminator rolls and burner section and provide collection of the effluent stream.
    3. The hood is manufactured of 18 ga. stainless steel.
  11. Utilities Usage
