One existing industrial plant for production of spandex filament yarn is currently available.
Name plate capacity of approximately 1,100 tons/year.
Based on wet spinning technology.
Produces spandex filament yarn starting from spandex scraps (coming from wet spinning or dry spinning technology).
Several machineries and equipment to scale up the production capacity are available on request.
Process
Elastane fiber can be produced by several different spinning processes (wet, dry, melt, reaction).
Over 80% of elastane is now produced by dry technology worldwide.
Wet technology can be particularly interesting and efficient to obtain good properties on the elastane yarn when producing high denier yarns.
Properties
High elasticity and excellent fitting.
Pleasing wear comfort.
Long-term dimensional stability.
Extreme durability.
Depending on the degree of stretch ability and elastic recovery, on the character and the handle of the goods required for a specific field of application, weft-knit, warp-knit, knitted or woven fabrics are preferred.
End-Use Sectors
Elastane yarns are typically incorporated into textile constructions where their high elastic extension and high recovery forces are advantageous.
Elastane yarns are never used alone in fabrics, but always in combination with different yarns, either as bare yarn or as covered elastic ones.
While elastane was in the past used as a special functional fibre only (like in corsetry, bands and medical stocking as a rubber substitute), today its fields of application are very much wider.
Elastane fibres are used together with nylon or polyester fibres for woven fabrics (narrow fabrics such as straps and trimmings for all sorts of clothing articles, jeans, leisure and sportswear, city fashions, fashionable outerwear, shoes).
Elastane fibres are used together with nylon or polyester fibres for warp knitted fabrics (tricot knits for fashionable swimwear, leisure wear, sportswear, outerwear; raschel fabrics for corsetry, underwear).
Elastane fibres are used together with nylon or polyester fibres for knitted fabrics (pantyhose, underwear, leisurewear, outerwear, sportswear).
Elastane fibres are used together with nylon or polyester fibres for other fabrics and applications (diapers, sanitary articles, medical articles such as support stockings and compresses, technical articles).
