One existing spandex wet spinning plant, able to produce 1,100 t/a spandex filament yarn starting from spandex scraps (coming from wet spinning or dry spinning technology).
One existing industrial plant for production of spandex filament yarn is currently available, with a name plate capacity of approx. 1,100 tons/year, based on wet spinning technology.
Several machineries and equipment to scale up the production capacity are available on request.
The name spandex is commonly used for describing “elastane” fibres, that are synthetic, polyurethane fibres with high elasticity and recovery properties.
End-use sectors: elastane yarns are typically incorporated into textile constructions where their high elastic extension and high recovery forces are advantageous.
Elastane yarns are never used alone in fabrics, but always in combination with different yarns, either as bare yarn or as covered elastic ones.
While elastane was in the past used as a special functional fibre only, today its fields of application are very much wider.
Elastane fibres are used together with nylon or polyester fibres for woven fabrics, warp knitted fabrics, knitted fabrics, and other fabrics/applications.
Process: elastane fibre can be produced by some different spinning processes (wet, dry, melt, reaction); though nowadays over 80% of it is now produced by dry technology all over the world, nevertheless wet technology can be particularly interesting and efficient to obtain good properties on the elastane yarn when producing “high denier” yarns.
Basic properties from spandex are: high elasticity and excellent fitting, pleasing wear comfort, long-term dimensional stability, extreme durability.
The seller company has been producing spandex yarns since more than 30 years in its Italian production sites; this plant has always been assisted with specific technological and engineering experience internally since the ‘90, so obtaining high quality products and good industrial efficiency.
Plant Layout
The lay-out is based on the following fundamental data: raw materials: spandex scraps (from wet or dry technology); end product: spandex filament yarn; end product output: nominal 1,100 t/a resp. 3.2 t/d (on the average at 8,400 operating hours/year).
Fineness range: 420 – 2500 dtex, 840 dtex on the average.
Production program (example): 25% - 620 dtex, 25% - 800 dtex, 25% - 940 dtex, 25% - 1240 dtex.
Polymer preparation plant: 1 batch production line.
Wet spinning plant: 4 spinning machines, each with 48 positions, i.e. in total 192 positions.
Number of yarn ends: 4 ends/position (620 – 800 - 940 dtex), 2 ends/position (1240 dtex).
Number of winders: 1 winder (double) machine / 2 spinning machines.
Package weights: 1 kg (620, 800, 940, 1240 dtex); 3 kg (620, 800, 940 dtex) on standard tubes with 114 mm length.
Capacities
Polymer Preparation Plant
The total installed name plate capacity of the polymer preparation plant is 800 kg/h dope (with 24% b.w. concentration).
Wet Spinning Plant
The capacity of the spinning machines is as follows: example of production plan for 4 spinning machines (48 spinning positions each) based on expected capacities and production days/annum to achieve required product mix.
Machine A: end-titre 620 dtex, 1 machine, capacity per machine 802 kg/day, total capacity 802 kg/day, production period 350 d/a, capacity per year 280.70 t/a.
Machine B: end-titre 800 dtex, 1 machine, capacity per machine 950 kg/day, total capacity 950 kg/day, production period 350 d/a, capacity per year 332.50 t/a.
Machine C: end-titre 940 dtex, 1 machine, capacity per machine 814 kg/day, total capacity 814 kg/day, production period 350 d/a, capacity per year 284.90 t/a.
Machine D: end-titre 1240 dtex, 1 machine, capacity per machine 800 kg/day, total capacity 800 kg/day, production period 350 d/a, capacity per year 280.00 t/a.
The solvent recovery plant is designed for purification and recovery of all DMF-water solutions coming from spinning bath extraction and from scrubber system.
The name plate production capacity of this plant is 7,000 kg/h of feed solution (about 10% b.w. DMF and 90% b.w. water).
