Description

  1. Overview
    1. Computer-controlled tester with a modified 12" stroke variable speed dc drive lead-screw assembly and high accuracy loading sensor for ild (now ifd) testing.
    2. Uses a linear position sensor so programmed tests can operate automatically, moving to required positions as needed.
    3. Consists of a bench top test fixture 36" wide x 26" deep with the power loading device and sensors attached.
    4. Mounted to a portable controls cart that houses the computer, monitor, printer, and all other required electronic controls.
  2. Controls And Electronics
    1. Controls system, high-speed data collection boards, and all other required electronics (dc motor drive and load cell amplifiers) are housed in the lower custom-made cart with casters and accessible via a hinged door.
    2. Utilizes an industrial style rack mount computer with heavy-duty internal ventilator fans.
    3. A single control cable links the cart to the test fixture.
    4. Required monitor, keyboard, mouse, and printer reside on a tray at the top of the cart.
  3. Software And Data Handling
    1. Utilizes custom-written microsoft visual basic software for easy test setup and manipulation of test variables for each sample.
    2. Saves all data automatically to a database.
    3. Operators can create and modify new test setups as needed.
    4. Time and date information is automatically added to each test file saved; operators can enter comments and other critical information about each test sample.
    5. Able to plot and print actual load deflection curves from samples, as well as generating required ild or ifd values per astm d3574.
  4. Optional Tensile Testing Capability
    1. Upon request, the tester can be used as a tensile testing device by interchanging the foam indenter with a 100 lb. load cell with manual sample grip and installing the lower manual sample grip.
