Servo-driven two-dimensional profile saw utilizing a traveling abrasive cutting wire.
Cuts intricate profiles in flexible and rigid urethane foams, Ethafoam, mineral wool, Styrofoam, Foamglas, and similar materials.
Also suitable for upholstery materials, inorganic material (mineral and glass wool), glass foam, soft plastics, and rigid plastics including PU, EPS, PE, and melamine and phenolic resins.
Operable in both manual and automatic mode from a single point operator control console.
Windows-based software program engineered for this machine, controlling functions and operations; enables automated cutting for imported sketches, profiles, and contours.
Optional draw software allows profile and contour creation directly at the control console.
Major Components
High speed abrasive wire cutting saw mounted on a railed sub-frame, leveled to a vacuum-equipped saw table.
Standard cutting ability: 3000 mm length (X axis), 1400 mm height (Y axis), and 1500 mm width.
Machine primarily consists of cutting saw assembly, precision movable carriage, saw bed, and operator control console.
Single console unit provides operator control over the entire machine, mounting the computer/display, keyboard and mouse, switches, and indicators.
Main screen provides primary control of the machine and its operations.
Head Assembly
Thin cabinet designed around the entire cutting wire with large access panels for direct exposure to the cutting wire, drive wheel and drive motor assembly, tension wheel and tension assembly, and idler wheels.
Head frame: aluminum extrusion enclosure with two front mounted access panels, attached to the carriage assembly for precision cutting along X and Y axes.
Cutting wire: serrated wire, belt-driven at high RPM, tensioned and tracked along four wheels.
Drive wheel and drive motor assembly: variable speed electric motor, tension-mounted on the back of the saw cabinet frame, using a pulley to belt-drive the drive wheel.
Drive motor assembly: servo gear motor powers overall movement of the cutting saw wire.
Pulleys mounted to both the drive motor and the back side of the drive wheel, interconnected with a heavy duty V-belt.
Mechanical tension device applies outward pressure on the drive motor’s mounting brackets, keeping constant tension on the belt.
Main screen on the operator control console provides automated control over cutting speed; manual controller/display allows for manual operations.
Red indicator lamp mounted on the carriage frame flashes anytime the wire is in motion for operator safety.
Tension wheel and tension assembly: dual-bearing tension wheel mounted on vertical slide rails, bolted to the saw cabinet frame.
Pneumatic cylinder mounted to the backside of the saw cabinet frame pushes the tension wheel upward, applying continuous controlled tension on the cutting wire.
Limit switch automatically shuts down the machine if a saw wire breaks or operates outside designed parameters; adjusted to detect excess vertical travel of the tension wheel.
Control panel for the tension assembly mounted on the left-hand side of the carriage frame, providing an ON/OFF switch, adjustable regulator, and a display gauge.
Wire wheels: each machined and balanced wire wheel uses a dual-bearing design to mount onto a fixed spindle block; adjustability built into each spindle block for independent wheel adjustments.
Table Assembly
Aluminum extruded frame with anodized aluminum top that supports the material to be cut.
Two limit switches mounted on the left-hand underside of the saw table, representing the X+ and X- limits for lateral movement of the carriage assembly.
Geared servo motor drive mounted at the rear of the saw bed provides precision back and forth movement of the entire carriage assembly using belted units mounted horizontally and guided by high precision square rails.
Vacuum available.
Carriage Assembly
Carriage frame: aluminum extrusion frame designed to mount the cutting saw, providing controlled movement vertically and laterally for cutting operations.
Two belt units mounted vertically on the carriage frame for vertical (up/down) movement of the cutting saw.
Bearing carts mounted on the belt units guide the precision vertical movement of the cutting saw.
Two limit switches mounted on the left-hand side of the carriage frame, representing the Y+ and Y- limits for vertical movement of the cutting saw.
Controlled vertical movement (Y+ and Y-) for the cutting saw accomplished through software controlled servo drive system.
Servo drive system consists of a servo motor, interconnecting shafts, gear box, and vertically mounted belt units for the cutting saw.
Software control provided on the main screen of the operator control console for both manual and automatic operations.
Geared servo drive motor mounted at the rear of the saw bed provides precision movement of the entire carriage assembly (back and forth) using belted units mounted horizontally and guided by high precision square rails.
Operator Interface Terminal (OIT)
Single point operator control station housing all controls for the machine, except for the wire tension panel.
Console cabinet: mounted keyboard and mouse tray extends outward from the steel cabinet with two lockable panels and a rear electrical access panel; operator controls mounted in the upper panel as well as the computer/display module.
Operator controls: several controllers provided on either side of the computer/display module.
Pushbuttons consist of control power and emergency stop buttons.
Two potentiometer dials provide control for feed rate and wire speed, and a display module for wire speed in ft/min (m/min).
Each switch/setting must be set or turned on as needed for cutting operations.
Computer display module: Windows-based, self-contained computer and flat screen display module serving as the primary user interface device; information regarding operation and use available in Section 3 of the manual.
