Worldwide Recycling Equipment, Automobile Shredder Residue Recycling System

Description

  1. Overview
    1. The remaining 25% is a combination of metals and shredder waste known as automotive shredder residue (ASR)
    2. ASR consists of a wide variety of materials, including plastics, glass, rubber, wood, foam, tramp metal, wire, fibers, sand, and dirt
  2. Plastic Recovery Process
    1. Recovering plastic from shredder residue involves a process of identification and separation
    2. Prior to separating, the ASR is often dried, which makes separation easier
    3. After the plastic is dried and separated out, the various polymers are separated using a flotation system
  3. Additional Value Recovery
    1. Further value can be found in shredder residue through a process known as pyrolysis
    2. Through this process, oil can be extracted from the plastics found in ASR
