NovaStar, TF, New, Manual Foam I.L.D. (I.F.D.) Tester, 500 lbs Max Force, 110V (New)

Description

  1. Overview
    1. Using the existing design but adding the following requirements/modifications.
    2. Able to apply a constant vertical force as the foam collapses.
    3. Able to apply at least 500 lbs vertical force.
    4. Able to apply force for duration of minutes, hours, or days.
    5. Able to apply a variable force to compress a constant distance.
    6. Able to exchange contact geometries/fixture (28 in x 24 in x 6) (L x W x T), can hang out end L.
    7. Space under the test geometry for a specimen (36 in x 24 in x 12) (L x W x T), can hang out the end L.
    8. Compression stroke of at least 5.
    9. Able to monitor force applied.
    10. For ASTM standard # D3574.
    11. Table top model.
    12. 110 volts - 60 Hz.
    13. Alternative 50 Hz available for overseas customers.
  2. Specifications
    1. This is a simple foam indentation force deflection (IFD) tester capable of testing samples 28 in square and up to 8 in thick.
    2. It uses a modified 8 in stroke variable speed DC drive lead-screw assembly with an adjustable speed range to meet the requirements of ASTM D3574.
    3. That spec allows the test to be done within a range of 0.83 to 3.3 mm/sec.
    4. A precision load sensor and digital display provide the IFD load values.
    5. Maximum load capability is 250 lbs.
    6. The custom fabricated structure (with the required lower venting grid) is anodized aluminum.
    7. Foam contact is made with a provided 8 in diameter "indentor foot" on a pivot coupling.
    8. A three-position switch is provided, along with a speed controller, to allow the load to be slowly brought down onto the foam.
    9. The lead-screw will dynamically brake when releasing the switch at the correct position (which is confirmed by reading a digital position sensor).
    10. Decays in the foam load against the indentation form can then be monitored using a simple stopwatch.
