  10. Special and Standard Features
    1. This totally new design represents a new flexo press concept of futuristic dimensions – a standardized, high precision, user friendly ci printing press for maximum capacity and superior product quality. The Olympia Starflex has been awarded the “gs” certificate (gs = safety tested) by the appropriate German safety control board which applies also to the robolift.
    2. While many of the machine features are new, the printer recognizes many of its functions from preceding presses; familiar features – in a new presentation, improved and automated.
    3. Central operation and control: the W&H Procontrol permits machine operation, monitoring, and control from centrally located operating columns; the system records all order related parameters. Operating columns also comprise telecon web-video inspection system, vis-con viscosity control (optional) and densitometric scanning (optional).
    4. Central unit for electronic components: a self-contained air-conditioned unit comprising all electric and electronic components, which are positioned for easy access – the new W&H Eltainer concept. The main computer for Procontrol is not located in the control console, but in the protective environment of Eltainer.
    5. Automatic cylinder change over: the robolift system positions plate cylinders and anilox rolls at speeds much higher than could be achieved manually, based on the new cylinder bearings which open and close automatically – without the use of tools. Only one operator is required – to provide operation as well as the necessary safety controls directly from the operator’s console. W&H has received the “gs” certificate (safety tested) from the appropriate German safety control board for this invention. Is manual intervention required? To some extent – yes. The pre-loaded service carts must be positioned onto the appropriate locations – this only takes a few minutes.
    6. Computer control system: all color decks are of identical construction and are equipped with motorized longitudinal and side-lay register adjustment, featuring a computerized fast rack-back system, complete with flexorex cc pre-register adjustment unit. Change-over can be achieved during machine shut-down, without material waste, while all gears are engaged automatically on all color decks at an extremely high start-up accuracy (in the micron area) – essential, field proven characteristics, tested in excess of 500 times on cc controlled W&H color decks.
