  1. Overview

    9. The model MPS-V Dowtherm is a double heater machine for producing set yarns, with automated package doffing device at each take-up position.
  2. Driving System
    1. Feed units and take-up as well as friction units are driven by individual motors.
  3. Feed Units
    1. Feed units G1, G1.1, G2, G2X and G3.
  4. Heater
    1. Primary heaters are 2.0 m long Dowtherm heaters with 2 grooves per heating plate.
    2. The intensive secondary heater is a Dowtherm-heated, 1.3 m long curved tube heater (spiral pinched heater tubes).
    3. Both primary and secondary heaters are equipped with electronic digital control and automatic temperature monitoring system.
  5. Thread Up Device
    1. Threading of yarn ends will be done by a pneumatic device from first feed unit to primary heater and cooling plate.
    2. Threading from entrance of secondary heater to take-up is done automatically.
  6. Cooling
    1. For cooling and stabilising of the yarn prior to entering the texturing unit, 1.1 m long, ambient-air cooled plates are used.
  7. Friction Aggregates
    1. The machine is equipped with individually driven Barmag friction aggregates type 8E.
    2. The basic machine price includes 9 mm ceramic discs in 1-7-1 arrangement.
  8. Fume Exhaust
    1. Spin-finish fume removal at the upper and lower end of the primary heater.
  9. Yarn Suction
    1. Yarn suction system for continuous operation during package doffing, the maximum possible number of doff positions can be 4 at the same time.
    2. 1 yarn suction gun per machine.
  10. Electronic Yarn Sensors
    1. Non-contact sensors to actuate the corresponding yarn cutter.
  11. Unitens 2
    1. Unitens 2 yarn quality monitoring system with continuous online measuring of the yarn tension underneath the friction aggregates as well as possibility of yarn cut in case of C-quality including PC, monitor, keyboard and printer.
  12. Take-Up / Traverse (Advanced Take-Up Technology)
    1. Mechanical take-up speeds up to 1,500 m/min.
    2. Layout for cylindrical as well as for biconical package build with adjustable taper angles.

    5. Traverse system equipped with take-up processor for programmable control of stroke reduction and ribbon breaking which are adjusted in such a way that differences in the yarn tension are extensively equalised. Wrap detection is done by controlling the increase of the bobbin diameter.

    2. Running-time controlled yarn trapping and cutting device including yarn suction.
    3. Package lifting and braking device, sensor-monitored spool transfer to buffer position.
    4. Transfer of empty tubes.
    5. Rethreading of yarn end on empty tube with formation of transfer tail, standard tubes with/without slot are used.

  25. General Technical Basis: Power, Climate, Compressed Air
    1. The equipment is designed for following electrical characteristics: power supply 3 x 380 (400) V, AC, PE and loadable neutral line.
    2. Control voltage: 24 V DC.
    3. Frequency: 50 (60) Hz.
    4. Voltage variation: maximum ± 10%.
    5. Frequency variation: ± 2 CPS.
    6. 3 x 415 V AC, PE and loadable neutral line.
    7. Control voltage: 24 V DC.
    8. Frequency: 50 (60) Hz.
    9. Voltage variation: maximum +5% -10%.

    11. The equipment is not trop-proofed and is designed for operation below 1,000 m above sea level. Higher altitudes lead to load reduction.
    12. Ambient and cooling air temperature for static inverters and operator stations have to be stable and a maximum of 35 °C should not be exceeded. Depending on the equipment and the rate of utilization this value has to be slightly corrected.
    13. The relative humidity must be less than 85%.
    14. The equipment is designed for compressed air connection at a constant operating pressure of 6 bar. If the limit value of 8 bar pressure is exceeded in customer’s plant, reduction valves have to be provided by customer.
  26. Standards
    1. The equipment, including the pressure vessels has been designed, manufactured and tested according to the applicable German and European standards (VDE, EN, IEC).
    2. Protection class for inverters, control cabinet and operator stations is as a minimum IP33 according to VDE 0470-Part 1 (=EN 60529 = IEC 529), which means that the components are protected against solid particles of 2.5 mm diameter as well as against spray water.
    3. Protection class of motors is IP23 according to VDE 0530-Part 5 (=EN 60034-Part 5 = IEC 34-Part 5). This covers protection against solid particles of 12.5 mm diameter as well as against spray water.
    4. The electronics are designed in accordance with the European standard EN 60721-3-3 / climatic environmental conditions class 3K3. This means particularly that no moisture is allowed on the electronic components during operation. This requirement also applies to the shutdown and start-up conditions of the air conditioning system.
