  3. Line Rates
    1. Note for design purposes waste figures and efficiency of operation will not be considered.
    2. Only maximum output will be used for our proposals.
    3. The design of the secondary packing solution will reflect the maximum output that the process can deliver with no losses, plus a % headspace.
    4. This scenario will create a packing pull on the process.
    5. Assumption: 5s and 20s numbers reflect total number of bags in the format.
    6. Line rates table: 500 kg/hour yields 350 bags/min, 70 5s cartons/min, 18 20s cartons/min, 167 cuts/min (option one).
    7. 550 kg/hour yields 382 bags/min, 77 5s cartons/min, 20 20s cartons/min, 183 cuts/min (option two).
    8. 600 kg/hour yields 416 bags/min, 84 5s cartons/min, 21 20s cartons/min, 199 cuts/min (option three).
    9. 650 kg/hour yields 452 bags/min, 91 5s cartons/min, 28 20s cartons/min, 216 cuts/min (option three).
    10. 700 kg/hour yields 486 bags/min, 98 5s cartons/min, 25 20s cartons/min, 232 cuts/min (option four).
  4. Option Summary
    1. Option one: Relocate 20s over to the main packing area, address the packing ergonomic issues.
    2. Option two: Relocate 20s over to the main packing area, address the packing ergonomics issues. Relocate the check weigher to the exit of the cartoner, additional conveyors.
    3. Option three: As option two with one 80-130 per minute end/side loaded cartoner or two 80 per minute end/side loaded cartoners, remove carton closer, retaining carton former for 20s pack only, install new guillotine 240 cuts per minute.
    4. Option four: As option three with the installation of an additional set of scales and bagger on the primary packing.
