  1. Overview
    1. Brand: Westal
    2. Type: 600 one shot chocolate moulding line
    3. Currently set up for book moulding and producing 7 grammes solid chocolate eggs
    4. Line was new in around year 1980, had a complete overhaul in year 2009
    5. Overhaul was done by previous owners, using extra contract engineers
  2. 2009 Overhaul Details
    1. Pulling down the line to every last bolt and checked all bearings, etc., and replaced any which were not 100%
    2. Rebuilt all worn shafts, cams, etc.
    3. Wire brushed or soda blasted all metal parts that were not painted and reassembled
    4. Totally reconditioned the depositor end including the mould closer and repainted/plated most parts
    5. All electrical field wiring was replaced and any control gear not deemed to be reliable
    6. All the insulated panel doors and enclosure were replaced with new panels, hinges and latches
    7. Moulding line includes electrical wiring diagrams
  3. Later Modifications
    1. Year 2011: replaced the mould closer pneumatic logic controls with a plc controller and new valves which proved a lot more reliable
    2. Year 2011: also put a plc control on the demoulding hammers
    3. Year 2012: installed a more powerful air circulation fan motor and variable speed control on this
  4. Dimensions and Capacities
    1. Line measures 26 metres long plus an extra 4500 mm for the outfeed conveyor, egg sieve, goring kerr dsp1 metal detector (which runs on the following test pieces: 1.5 mm ferrous, 1.5 mm non ferrous, 2.0 mm stainless) and elevating conveyor
    2. Mould size plain: 600 mm x 220 mm
    3. Book mould carrier: 600 mm x 220 mm
    4. The two half egg moulds that go in these are 505 mm x 100 mm
    5. The moulding line has capacity for 600 moulds but only includes around 400 book mould carriers
    6. Line was producing about 230-250 kg/hour on 7 gramme eggs in either compound or chocolate
  5. Line Components

  6. Included Moulds and Depositors
    1. Full set of 13 gramme egg moulds and depositor plate to match
    2. Numerous other moulds and depositor plates
    3. Two extra depositors (one is a one shot and the other is one sided) which are currently in storage
    4. The one shot extra depositor has larger pistons than the one currently fitted to the line and includes a depositor plate and some moulds for this for doing a 30 gramme filled egg
  7. Cooling System
    1. The moulding plant has its own evaporator on the roof of the building but does not have its own condensing unit as it is run off the factory compressor rack
  8. Chocolate Foil Wrappers
    1. Three chocolate foil wrappers for chocolate eggs or balls, manufactured by otto hansel, model x8005
    2. Each machine is in good order, with feed-plates for solid 7 grammes chocolate eggs (measuring approx. 28 mm long x 14 mm wide)
    3. All machines are fully guarded, with vibratory hopper feeders
    4. Suitable for chocolate eggs up to 35 mm long and 12 to 15 mm diameter, and for chocolate balls 16 to 25 mm diameter
    5. Capacity at around 500 pieces per minute
    6. Bunch style wrap, end fold with final smoothing
    7. In storage, currently not in production
