  1. Overview
    1. Pillow compression machine for the package compression of all kinds of bedding products.

    3. The machine compresses and seals the product after filling; the products will be automatically recovered after opening the compressed vacuum packaging bag.
    4. These instructions are used for the operation of the pillow compression machine.

  5. Installation Steps
    1. Please prepare one 32A three-phase four-wire circuit breaker, one 2.5 square mm 4-wire cable, and 10 mm diameter industrial gas pipe.
    2. Connect the machine power plug to the industrial power supply in the factory, and protect it with a circuit breaker in the middle; connect the factory airline into the air inlet of the filter in the machine (pressure: 0.5 to 0.8 MPa).
  6. Operation and Usage – Compression Machine Test Running
    1. Connect the power supply and air.
    2. Turn on the emergency stop switch. Caution: set the heating time to the range of 2 to 3 seconds (too long heating time may blow the heating wire and cause fire hazard).
    3. Pay attention to adjust the cooling time to the range of 4 to 6 seconds (the cooling time must be greater than the heating time).
    4. Insert the pillow into a compression bag and place it on the compression platform; the compression bag falls over the aluminum sealing bar, then press the compression start button, the compression plate will go down, after it reaches the bottom and cannot move further, the operator can then press the foot pedal to complete the sealing process.
    5. The compression plate will automatically go up after sealing. Take the pillow out and check the sealing quality; the operator can adjust the heating time and cooling time accordingly when needed (please adjust slightly each time).
  7. Safety and Precautions
    1. Emergency stop: in case of emergency, the operator can press the emergency switches which are located on both sides of the operation panel. The emergency stop switch needs to be turned on before restart after handling the accident.
    2. Emergency stop button: once it's pressed, the compression plate will freeze at its current position, the power will be cut off.
    3. Emergency reset button: once it's pressed, the compression plate will go up to its original height, the power will be cut off.
    4. Safety scope: when operating the machine, the operator shall not reach the yellow part of the machine body, rotating, shifting and other moving parts. The operators should not wear necklaces, bracelets, clothes that are not suitable for operating machinery safely. The operator with long hair should put the hair inside the head cover.
    5. Potential danger: when the voltage is not stable, the power cord and air supply is not in conformity with the requirements, it may damage the electric components and catch fire.
    6. When using the compressing machine, the pillow must be placed in the middle of the machine, otherwise it will cause the compression plate tilt and damage the oil cylinder and synchronous device.
    7. The machine has safety measures to prevent hands from pinched in the machine while machine is running. During the compression process, the two infrared sensors located at both ends of the operation panel will keep monitoring for objects and if there are any blocking in their way (the clear objects like compression bags will not activate this function), it will stop the compression plate from going down and immediately send the compression plate to its original height position.
  8. Mechanical Maintenance
    1. Mechanical rotating or moving part – add lubricating grease – every 30 days – 2# lithium grease.
    2. Heat-resistant adhesive tape – replacement – when damaged – 1 set comes with the machine.
    3. Heating wire – replacement – when damaged – 1 set comes with the machine.
  9. Troubleshooting and Solutions
    1. Symptom: the pressing plate can’t go down. Potential causes: 1. power on button (or the emergency stop button) is not reset or released; 2. air line is not connected. Troubleshooting process: 1. reset or release the power on (emergency stop) button; 2. connect the air line.
    2. Symptom: the compression force is not enough. Potential cause: the air pressure is set too low. Troubleshooting process: turn up the pressure regulator valve to make the pressure more than 5.5 bar.
    3. Symptom: the sealing of plastic bag isn’t strong or seriously deformed. Potential cause: the time relay is not adjusted to a reasonable position. Troubleshooting process: adjust the heating time (sealing is not strong: increase heating time; sealing is disformed or broken: decrease heating time). Notes: the heating time should be adjusted slightly. Do not adjust too much at one time, otherwise the heating wire may be blown out or even cause fire hazard. Cooling time must be greater than heating time.
    4. Symptom: can’t seal. Potential cause: the heating wire burnt out. Troubleshooting process: change the new one.
  10. Heating Wire Changing Process
    1. Loosen the heat shield on both sides of the heating wire, loosen the nuts at the front of the screws so that the springs will not bear force.
    2. The heating wire can be seen after removing the heat-resistant adhesive tape on the heating aluminum bar.
    3. Loosen the copper head plates on both sides which clamp the heating wire (do not need to lose the wire connector), the heating wire can then be taken out. Note: the heating wire is bent on both end.
    4. Bend a small section of one side of the new heating wire (referring to the removed heating wire), and fix the heating wire first on the copper head plate, follow the same for the other end.
    5. Tighten the screws on both ends with the nuts (the screw is the heating copper head connected to both ends). As the nut is tightened, the heating wire will be tightened, till the heating wire even with the aluminum bar.
    6. Re-attach the heat-resistant adhesive tape to cover the heating wire (referring to the removed one), cover the heat shield at both ends.
