Hydraulic walking floor (moving floor) fuel reclaim and boiler feed system for biomass fuel.
Recovers wood chips, sawdust, hog fuel and bark from a bulk fuel storage bunker and delivers the fuel to the boiler fuel feed.
Construction and Components
Walking floor deck built up from parallel steel slats running over a heavy structural steel support frame of welded I-beam cross members and pedestal legs, set into a cast concrete fuel storage bunker.
Hydraulic cylinder drive: one double-acting hydraulic cylinder per group of floor slats, each cylinder carried on its own welded steel clevis mount bolted to the frame beam and coupled to the slat push beam.
Drive positions are numbered in sequence along the deck, positions 3, 4, 5 and 6 being legible in the photographs.
Hydraulic power unit: electric-motor-driven pump close-coupled to a rectangular welded steel oil reservoir with level/sight gauge, bladder accumulator, sequencing and directional control valve manifold with pressure gauge, and suction and return piping.
Hydraulic hose: Eaton Aeroquip MatchMate Global GH493.
Steel discharge hopper and chute boxes with sloped side walls and bolted access panels along the discharge side of the deck.
Inclined cleated drag transfer conveyor taking fuel from the walking floor discharge up to the boiler house.
Metering screw, surge bin and fuel feeder at the boiler end feeding the furnace, shown in the supplied process section diagram.
Installation Arrangement
Fuel is tipped into the concrete bunker onto the walking floor.
The reciprocating floor slats walk the fuel toward the discharge end of the bunker, where it drops into a metering screw hopper set below floor level.
The screw discharges onto the inclined conveyor, which elevates the fuel to the boiler surge bin and the stoker fuel feeder.
The deck also shows a complete installed system in service: the walking floor bunker under a steel canopy, the fuel pile on the deck, the elevating conveyor, and the boiler house it feeds.
