Description
Overview
New laminating and sheeting (cross-cutting) machine for carbon fiber composite fabric, built to order, 60 in (1,524 mm) web width
Two webs are unwound under tension control and web guided; before the nip a stripper roll peels the release film from one web and the release paper from the other onto two take-up stations
The two fabric faces are then laminated through a driven nip and fed to a stop-and-cut cross cutter, producing sheets 100 in (2,540 mm) long on a servo belt receiving table
Cold process, no heating
Main Parameters
Web width: 60 in (1,524 mm)
Roller width: 1,700 mm
Line speed: 30 m/min, adjustable
Sheet length: 100 in (2,540 mm)
Raw material: carbon fiber composite fabric
Roll weight: approximately 300 lb (136 kg) per roll
Cores: 3 in (76 mm); maximum roll diameter 12 in (300 mm)
Overall length: 4,054 mm (3,054 mm belt feeder section plus 1,000 mm unwind and laminating section)
Overall height: 1,650 mm
Power: 480 V, 3-phase, 4-wire
Compressed air: 5 to 8 kg/cm²
Noise: below 75 dB
Ambient temperature: 10 to 50 °C
Color: grey white RAL 7035
Unwind
2 unwind stations, one per web, each with magnetic powder tension control, for rolls up to 300 lb (136 kg)
Safety chucks for 3 in (76 mm) cores, maximum roll diameter 12 in (300 mm)
Ultrasonic web guide on both webs to keep them aligned: correction range ±75 mm, accuracy ±1 mm, driven on linear guides
Manual splicing
Liner Take-Up
2 take-up stations ahead of the nip, one for the release film and one for the release paper
Stripper roll on each web peels the liner before the nip: the release film from one web and the release paper from the other
Safety chucks for 3 in (76 mm) cores, maximum roll diameter 12 in (300 mm)
Laminating
2 nip rolls, both positively driven, with adjustable nip pressure
Top nip roll rubber covered, bottom nip roll stainless steel
Fixed-length feeding to the set parameters
Innomotics (Siemens) servo motors
Cross Cutting
Cuts the laminated material into sheets 100 in (2,540 mm) long
Stop-and-cut: the line stops at the set length and the knife cuts
Knife traverse driven by an air cylinder
Pressing mechanism beside the cutter so the material does not shift while it is cut
Receiving Table
At least as long as the cut sheets, 100 in (2,540 mm) minimum
Servo belt feeder, 2,700 mm long
Sheets are removed by hand
Electrical Control
Siemens PLC
Siemens color touch screen HMI for line speed, finished length, unwind and rewind parameters and tension control, with help and fault pages
Emergency stop buttons
Electrical cabinet with fan cooling
Siemens low-voltage electrical components
More than 30% spare I/O points and storage; shielded wiring against interference
CE certified
Safety
Guards over exposed rotating parts, painted yellow
Emergency stop buttons at the cutting unit, the conveyor table and the main HMI
Warning labels for electric shock, burns and pinch points
Service and Documentation
