Belfast Mini Mills, Fiber Processing Line, 8-Cycle Wash System, Large Carder, Draw Frame

Description

  1. Overview
    1. This listing includes a complete set of fiber processing machinery for a mini mill or producer stage operation.
  2. Tumbler
    1. Used to remove contamination from fiber, usually at the first stage of processing.
    2. Can be used in a mini mill configuration or at the producer stage to clean the fiber pre-shipping.
  3. Wash System
    1. The fiber is taken through any one of 8 cycles depending on desired wash preferences.
    2. Includes a programmable soap injector, 3 pie shaped sections, and an end cycle alarm.
    3. The washing of fiber is an essential step in processing.
  4. Picker
    1. The fibers are placed on the conveyor and fed into the rotating drum and are rapidly teased as they pass out the rear and into a collection room.
    2. In the collection room clean processing oils are applied.
    3. These oils eliminate static and keep the fiber supple through the processes.
  5. Small Fiber Separator & Large Fiber Separator
    1. The fiber separator is designed to selectively remove coarse guard hair, vegetation, and other forms of contamination.
    2. The finer fibers are put in the web form, into a collection box for further processing.
    3. The waste is thrown into a chamber beneath.
    4. Large fiber separator: dual coat fibers, cashmere, pygora, llama, qiviut.
    5. Small fiber separator: single coat fibers.
  6. Large Carder
    1. Takes a random mass of fiber and transforms it into a continuous web, either to form a batt for felt making, or draw together to form a roving.
    2. Also capable of producing “bumps” with the bump winder option installed.
    3. The fibers are individually separated from each other and aligned lengthwise.
    4. The feed is measured to ensure consistent output.
  7. Rug Yarn Maker
    1. Creates a core wrapped yarn in conjunction with the carder.
    2. A great way to utilize coarser fibers.
    3. Can be woven, braided, crocheted or felted into a variety of products.
    4. The most common use is for area rugs.
  8. Draw Frame
    1. Has 2 major functions.
    2. Most importantly, it enhances the carded roving by adding consistency and further aligning the fibers.
    3. Automatic break out sensors and user programmable electronic counters make for easy operation.
    4. A convertible head for finer, short, crimpy fibers is included.
  9. 12 Spindle Spinner & Plyer, 8 Spindle Spinner & Plyer and 4 Spindle Spinner & Plyer
    1. The spinner's function is to draft or stretch the roving out to the desired size and incorporate a twist into the fiber stream to create high quality single strand yarns.
    2. The singles are then multi-plied to create balanced yarns.
    3. The spinners and plyers come in an assortment of styles: spinner/plyer combo, spinner only, plyer only, lace in 4, 8, and 12 spindle.
    4. Shown is the 8 spindle spinner.
  10. Cone Winder
    1. Used to wind yarn from the plyer bobbins onto a cardboard cone for shipping or storage.
    2. Machine knitters and weavers like yarn in this form.
    3. Tensioners, programmable counters, and fingertip speed control make it very user friendly.
  11. Steamer
    1. Used in conjunction with the cone winder.
    2. The plied yarn is pulled through a steaming chamber and drying barrel under slight tension.
    3. This balances the yarn for the end user.
  12. Skein Winder & Skein Swifts
    1. The skein winder winds a package of yarn called a hank or skein.
    2. This type of package is popular because it truly shows off the softness of the finished yarn.
    3. User programmable counters with auto stop make it a joy to use.
    4. Skein or hank holders or swifts are available in numerous models for dyers and repackaging operations.
  13. Ball Winder
    1. Winds the yarn from cones or bobbins into a wide variety of ball styles.
    2. The height and lay is user controlled.
    3. Programmable counters with auto stop and precise tensioners make it very user friendly.
  14. Felt Maker
    1. Creates felted sheets of natural fiber.
    2. With very little experience, one can make beautiful artwork.
  15. Dye Vat
    1. Belfast mini-mills ltd. special dyeing station.
    2. Fueled by propane or natural gas.
    3. Incorporates a 50-gallon vat with a removable draining basket.
    4. An electric swivel winch is installed making it easy to handle large batches of fiber.
    5. All stainless-steel construction.
  16. Drying Racks
    1. Used in conjunction with slight air movement, to dry the fiber to the correct stage for further processing.
